CDL Permit Tests

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration oversees the CDL and administers the written tests for CDL permits and endorsements. There is a $50 fee to take the written knowledge tests. The number of written tests you must pass to receive your CDL instruction permit depends on the class of CDL you wish to obtain.

To get a CDL permit you must first pass the following written tests:

Arkansas CDL Driving Test

The Arkansas CDL skills test can be taken at any Arkansas State Police Troop location. You’ll be tested on a pre-trip inspection, basic vehicle skills, and on-road driving.

Once you pass all your CDL tests, you’ll be issued a Class A or B CDL for $42. Endorsements like Hazmat, tanker, doubles/triples, and passenger can be added to your CDL for $10 each.
